Embodying the Aloha culture of giving with heart-to-heart massages and sharing our community with you.

Aloha Massage is a deeply nurturing and transformative somatic practice that uses long, flowing moves delivered with the soft part of the forearms, creating a rhythmic, wave-like sensation that invites profound relaxation and release. It's fun to learn & easy to give.

Founded by John Aloha, who brings over 27 years of experience to his teaching, Aloha Massage Training goes far beyond traditional massage techniques. Through immersive retreats held in Byron Bay and abroad, John guides students through the Aloha Way, a philosophy rooted in the connection between body, mind, and spirit.

Designed for those seeking meaningful change, personal growth, or a fulfilling new career path, our training is equal parts professional development and soulful experience. You'll walk away not only with practical skills and certification, but also the confidence, clarity, and heart-led purpose to offer true healing through touch.

Discover Aloha Massage

Aloha Massage is a deeply nurturing practice that uses smooth, flowing moves delivered with the soft part of the forearm, offering more depth and connection than traditional hand techniques. These gentle, wave-like movements feel as though the ocean itself is washing over you, easing tension and inviting deep relaxation.

By working with the body’s natural energy flow, Aloha Massage helps transform cellular memory, creating space for healing, rejuvenation, releasing held emotions and a renewed sense of balance from within.

Our Aloha Massage Training offers a unique and transformative, somatic approach, combining mindful intention, flowing footwork that is rooted in the traditional “Kahuna” dance while moving your forearms in a flowing rhythm for healing the body. You'll learn to move with grace, using your forearms in a rhythmic flow that supports deep healing and relaxation.

In John's words: "One of the most beautiful aspects of being an Aloha Massage practitioner is the joy and sustainability it brings. The flowing, intuitive movements keep your body energised, not worn out while allowing you to stay deeply connected with each client. You’re not just giving a massage; you're holding space for wholeness, relaxation, and deep healing, for them and for yourself."

This sacred form of massage goes beyond technique—it's a holistic practice that nurtures the connection between body, mind, and spirit. Through our massage trainings, you’ll not only gain practical skills but also experience personal transformation and a deeper understanding of true healing. Meet the Founder
John Aloha

John is a Master Practitioner and Trainer of Aloha Massage, with over 27 years dedicated to healing, nurturing, and supporting others on their journey to wellness. His approach is grounded in both deep technique and intuitive connection, offering clients a massage experience often described as “the best I’ve had in my life.”

Called to this path by Spirit, John has devoted his life to following inner guidance and sharing his wisdom with others. As a teacher, he creates a grounded, expansive space for students to grow—not just as massage practitioners, but as individuals. Through his lived experience, spiritual insight, and passion for Aloha Massage, John empowers others to embrace their own healing journey and purpose.

John’s foundation in bodywork began in 1988, studying Zen Shiatsu with Rod Berger, followed by a Diploma of Chinese Massage as part of the first year in an Acupuncture Degree in 1989. John began his journey with Aloha Massage in 1997, studying Hawaiian Temple Bodywork (Lomi Lomi) under Penny Prior of Kauai, Hawaii. A year later, he deepened his practice through Cultural Bodywork training with Stormie Lewis of New Zealand. These teachings ignited a passion within him that quickly became his life’s work.

Over the years, John has continued to expand his expertise across a wide range of healing modalities. He holds certifications in Remedial Massage, Deep Tissue, Swedish Massage, Reiki, and Oceanic Bodywork (water-based hydrotherapy), bringing a rich and diverse skill set to his practice.

In addition to his hands-on bodywork experience, John is also a qualified trainer and facilitator. He holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, a Certificate in Counselling and Communication, a Diploma of Business, and more recently, a Diploma in Coaching, Mentoring, and Leadership. His approach combines technical knowledge, intuitive practice, and a passion for guiding others on their own professional and personal journeys.

With decades in a variety of trainings and a deep commitment to healing, John brings a rich blend of traditional wisdom, cultural sensitivity, and emphatic touch to every treatment and training session.

Stories of Transformation

I have done a few massage courses and I have to say this one is by far the best; because of the live-in situation and the intense training the massage becomes embodied very quickly.
Everytime you work on someone you receive the joy of seeing people alight from your table, lit-up and looking years younger! Aloha massage is much more than something you do - it’s a way of being.
